Credits & billing
Credits explained
How reservations, charges and refunds work.

Voluminate works on a simple principle: for AI conversions, runs are free, you pay for what you keep. Hi-Fi CAD is the one exception — see below.
The lifecycle of a credit (AI conversion)
- Reservation — when a conversion starts, one credit is put on hold. It is not spent yet, but it is no longer available for another run.
- Charge — the credit is deducted the moment you download the result (STL or STEP). The button shows the cost before you confirm.
- Release — if the run fails, gets stuck, or you never download, the hold is released automatically.
Repeat downloads of a model you already paid for are always free.
Regenerations
The first run and the first regeneration of a part are free to trigger. Every further regeneration of the same part costs 0.25 credits when you start it; the full credit is still only charged if you download a result.
Hi-Fi CAD is charged upfront
A Hi-Fi CAD order charges 3 credits the moment you submit the request, not on download, because real engineering work starts immediately. If the request is declined — including if you decline a complexity surcharge — the 3 credits are refunded in full.
Balances
- Available credits — what you can start new runs with
- On hold — reserved by runs currently in flight
- With 0 available credits you cannot start a new conversion; top up on the billing page.
Free credits
New accounts receive 3 free conversions, no credit card required.
Where to see everything
The billing page shows your balance, your credit history (every grant, charge, hold and refund) and your invoices.
