Which inputs Voluminate accepts, and what you get back.

Inputs
- PDF — technical drawings, multi-page documents, scans
- Images — JPG, PNG photos of the physical part
- DXF / DWG — 2D CAD drawings
You can combine several sources of the *same* part into one part set. A drawing plus two photos usually produces a better reconstruction than either source alone.
Outputs
- STL — mesh, ideal for 3D printing and quick checks
- STEP — solid geometry: every NNS run typically also returns an AI-generated STEP you can take into any CAD system and finish yourself; Hi-Fi CAD returns an engineer-verified STEP
- PRT — native parametric CAD with a full feature tree (Hi-Fi CAD only)
Practical guidance
- Keep a part set focused on a single part — a handful of sources per set works best
- Individual files above roughly 50 MB may be rejected by the upload service
- Drawings should be legible: 200 dpi or better for scans
If a file is rejected, re-export it as PDF or PNG and try again — encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be read.
