Using the part brief effectively

Every part set has a part brief field. For a clean, single-part drawing you often do not need it — the intent is obvious. But it is the most useful field you have for telling us anything that matters to you and is not fully captured by the image itself, and it is worth using generously, not just for edge cases.

Worth including whenever relevant

1. Measurements or tolerances that matter most — if one dimension or fit is more critical than the rest, say so, even if it is already on the drawing.
2. Specific features to get right — a thread pitch, a surface that must stay smooth, a bore that has to align precisely; anything you would tell a machinist standing next to you.
3. Context that is not visible in the input at all — what the part is for, how it is used, what material it is normally made from, what would make a result unusable for you.
4. Which part you care about, if more than one is visible — by name or position, e.g. "the star wheel on the right, not the linkage arms".
5. What kind of output you are after, if it is anything other than a single static part model.
6. Whatever you are unsure about — if you do not know whether the file is even usable, tell us what you are hoping to get; we will either deliver it or say honestly why we cannot yet.

A short, specific sentence is enough

Vague: *"see attached"*

The Ø10 bore on the left needs to stay a tight fit — that is the critical dimension.

This bracket mounts to a vibrating motor housing, so rigidity matters more than weight.

I want a 3D representation of the whole mechanism's motion, not just one part.

Only interested in the star wheel component, ignore the rest of the linkage.

What not to do

• Do not paste the entire drawing text — the drawing is already uploaded.
• Do not leave it empty when tolerances matter; without a brief we optimise for visual match, not fit.
